As I was dishing out my breakfast of greek yogurt and granola (Mmmm), I saw a little a piece of paper in my granola that had an interesting quote on it.
“If you want people to build a ship, don’t drum up people together to collect wood and don’t assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long fore the sea.” – Antoine de Saint-Exupery
What I take away from that in relation to working from hom or online is that people always want to know the “how to’s”.
The “how do I create a website?”
“How do I get more traffic?”
“How do I convert that traffic into leads?”
and the list goes on and on…
While all those are good and relevant questions, what is more important in my opinion is to know your “why”. What makes you long for the sea?
If you can figure out why you are really doing what you are doing, and not just accepting the surface level answers, that is what is going to get you to keep plugging along when times get tough and tings are challenging you the point where you want to quit.
When you are in love of the sea so bad that you’ll do whatever it takes to build that ship, that’s when you’re going to find yourself out there in the middle of the ocean with the smell of the ocean air and chirps of sea gulls around you.
Building your business online isn’t always easy. Some things will challenge you. Some things will want to make you throw in the towel.
Don’t ever quit on your dreams. You deserve all the success in the world.
Knowing your why and helping others find out theirs will help both you and them.
