It’s funny how the world brings things to fruition sometimes.
I got my first start into the business world by total coincidence. I grew up in Kamloops, BC and was actively involved into snowboarding at skateboarding (I can thank for older brother Joel for that one). One day while I was at a snowboard contest, I won a tune up at a local ski and snowboard rental shop. The owner Chris was looking for someone to sponsor, so we became friends and I rode for the store. One day I suggested that he start selling skateboards. He had no interest in doing so, but suggested that I rent some of the back space in his store and do it. It sounded like a good idea. I thought, why not?
Flash forward a year and half later, and we had moved to a bigger store, but this time, I was renting out the back of the store to HIM! Almost 6 years later, I decided that I had had enough of retail world. During that time, I organized many successful events which included contests, demos, concerts and 2 summer music festivals, both of which are still talked about today, some 15 years later. Without knowing it, I had build a bit of a legacy in my hometown and had a great time doing so along the way. Those years were some of the best of my life! So much fun and some great business lessons learned.
After closing down my business, I moved to Vancouver and sold motorcycles at the largest dealership in British Columbia for 8 years. I was never the “typical” salesman that most people think of when they think of sales. I chose to take the “soft sell” approach by asking many questions and trying to find out which bike would truly work best for my customers. I believed that if they enjoyed their experience dealing with me, I would see them again when it was time for their next bike, or when their friend decided that they needed to be just as cool as them. It must have worked, because I have had MANY repeat customers over the years, sometimes 3 times in one season (some people sure are crazy about their motorbikes).
Since then, I have discovered internet marketing and jumped in with both feet. I now have a full service internet marketing company called Revolution Marketing Strategies and help brick and mortar businesses get more customers, increase revenue and more money money through various internet and mobile marketing strategies.
I love internet marketing for so many reasons.
- It is constantly evolving so it is always new and fresh.
- There is an infinite amount of opportunity.
- I can work from anywhere in the world with an internet connection.
- It feels great to be able to help others business owners become more successful
- I can also empower individuals like yourself to be able to live their dream lifestyle.
I learned some core principles early on marketing that have stuck with me to this day and made a big impact on how I view the world.
We live in an abundant world. There is enough of everything to go around for everyone.
I choose to work with people and businesses who see the value in what I can offer to them. Some will, some won’t, so what?
I can achieve anything I want if I put my mind to it and go after it. So can you.
